"Always packing light" isn't a slogan we picked because it sounded nice — it's the actual rule we plan trips around. One carry-on, two weeks, any climate. Here's how that's possible.
The Core Idea: Repeat, Don't Duplicate
Most overpacking comes from planning outfits instead of packing a wardrobe. Bring pieces that mix and match in multiple combinations, all in a similar color palette, and you can cover two weeks with far fewer items than you'd expect — then do laundry once, halfway through.
The Actual Checklist
- 3–4 tops, 2 bottoms, all mixable
- 1 light layer (fleece or packable jacket)
- 1 pair of shoes you'd actually walk 10km in, plus sandals
- Underwear/socks for 7 days — wash at the halfway point
- 1 "nice enough" outfit for a dinner out
- Solid or travel-size everything — refill from home rather than buying full bottles
- A quick-dry travel towel if staying anywhere without one guaranteed
- Basic first-aid: pain relief, blister plasters, any personal prescriptions
- Phone charger, a compact power bank, and the right plug adapter
- Passport, physical copies of key bookings, one backup card kept separately from your main wallet
"If you're not sure you'll wear it, you won't. Leave it home."
The One-Bag Test
Before you zip the bag, lay everything out and remove one more thing than feels comfortable. It's almost always still enough — the "just in case" items are the ones that never get worn and take up the space you'll want for anything you buy along the way.
Laundry Beats a Second Suitcase
A midway laundry stop — even just a sink wash overnight — does more for your packing list than any packing cube ever will. Plan for it and you can genuinely fit two weeks into a carry-on.
